Addiction is a brain disease and can occur with other disorders such as depression, eating disorders etc. Research has shown that individuals with a drug addiction or other addictions also suffer from another mental illness.

This is known as "dual diagnosis" or "co-occurring disorders."  The relationship between the addiction and mental health is very complex and often presents challenges in the treatment process.

Our multi-disciplinary team of psychiatrists, medical doctors, psychologists, addiction and mental health counsellor and other therapists work diligently to uncover underlying issues.  We then create unique treatment plans that seek to address both the addiction and the mental health issues.

If you or a loved one is struggling with a mental health issue and a substance abuse problem we  House can treat co-occurring disorders by integrating both mental health and addiction treatment methods.
